Californian ‘Arrow’ service begins

-

THE 14.4km ‘Arrow’ commuter rail line opened outside Los Angeles on October 24 between San Bernardino and Redlands after four years of infrastructure work to make the line ready for passenger use. Three intermediate stations have also been built. Trains are run mostly using three new Stadler DEMUs built in Salt Lake City. One peak hour train each way runs through to Los Angeles main Union station using a Metrolink diesel loco push-pull set. From 2024 the single hydrogen powered unit being delivered by Stadler (see WTR last month) will be used with the DEMUs.
