WEARING a jumpsuit is a brave fashion choice for even the most sartorially adventurous man.

But actor Timothée Chalamet went one step further by wearing a backless, shimmering red version for the premiere of his latest movie, Bones And All, at the Venice Film Festival on Friday.

The 26-year-old commissioned the custom-made number from Colombian-born French designer Haider Ackermann, who has made a number of outfits for him.

He teamed the halterneck design, which was slashed at both sides of the torso, with a pair of black shiny leather boots.

Your Name and has the lead role in the forthcoming Charlie And The Chocolate Factory prequel, Wonka.

In Bones And All, he and Taylor Russell – who joined him on the red carpet – star as a pair of lovers who also happen to be cannibals.

The French-American actor, who wore a bejewelled Louis Vuitton harness to the 2019 Golden Globes and a satin Prada jacket adorned with a Cartier brooch at the following year’s Oscars, is the latest male celebrity to embrace a more feminine look.

Singer Harry Styles wore a sequinned jumpsuit at the Coachella festival in May, while England footballer Dominic Calvert-Lewin posed in a skirt last year on the cover of fashion magazine Arena Homme. Jumpsuits have become so popular in the past six months that designers such as Burberry and Erdem have designed them, as well as high-street chain H&M and online fashion giant Asos.

In the 1970s, pop star David Bowie and style icon Paul Newman wore them, while modern-day US rapper Kanye West is also a fan.

Mr Chalamet was previously in a relationship with Lily-Rose Depp, the daughter of Johnny Depp and singer Vanessa Paradis.
