Jihadi bride case to cost taxpayer £5m
THE legal case involving jihadi bride Shamima Begum is likely to cost taxpayers more than £5million, according to experts.
Lawyers acting for Begum, 23, who was 15 when she and two friends left Britain for Syria, plan to launch a new case in November, arguing she should be allowed back to Britain on the grounds she was trafficked.
A new book has claimed the girls were helped into Syria by an Islamic State smuggler working for Canadian intelligence.
Experts believe her legal bids to return have already cost £2million. Paul Fulcher of The Legal Costs Experts said: ‘If the process starts again, it could cost upwards of £5 million.’
