Killed... by his set of false gnashers
IF ANYTHING will put you off sleeping with dentures in, it’s the story of a 35-year-old pharmacist who got his false teeth lodged in his chest.
The man, from London, woke up one morning in the spring of 1842 and was struggling to breathe. He had a history of asthma, so doctors and his family assumed this was the cause.
However, his breathing rapidly declined and within a few days he was dead.
It was only during an autopsy that doctors found a partial set of dentures lodged in the man’s chest cavity.
This, they concluded, was the likely cause of death.
