Patsy Ferran (right) and Felicity Montagu star in a three-part adapation of Elizabeth Gaskell’s much-admired 19th Century novel. It focuses on Margaret Hale, who finds herself at odds with a local mill owner after she and her family move to a northern industrial town.

The Voice Of The Vibraphone (Radio 3, 11pm) is a three-part series in which musician Corey Mwamba shines the spotlight on what he feels is an underappreciated instrument.

The Reunion (Radio 4, 11.15am) features a chat between Island Records founder Chris Blackwell and some of the pioneers of Jamaican music.
