The 1.7m who’ve NEVER escaped to the country

ONE in 30 Brits say they have never set foot in the countryside, with Glaswegians and Brummies least likely to have done so, a poll suggests.

A survey of 2,000 city-living adults found three per cent had never seen the rolling hills and green fields that make up more than 90 per cent of the UK’s landmass – equivalent to about 1.7million adults across the UK.

But that rose to five per cent in Glasgow and Birmingham, the Premier Inn survey revealed. About 80 per cent of Brits live in urban areas. Ian Acheson, 29, of Glasgow, said the largest patch of green he’d seen was Rangers’ pitch at Ibrox.
