THE GOOD NURSE

NETFLIX THRILLER

-

Jessica Chastain (right) is Amy Loughren, an exhausted intensive-care nurse with real problems – she’s a single mum, is short of money and, worst of all, hasn’t yet qualified for health insurance at the private New York hospital where she works. So when Charlie (Eddie Redmayne, above) arrives on her ward, she can’t believe her luck. He’s kind, dedicated and promises to help her.

Even her demanding daughters seem to like him when a working relationship blossoms into friendship. And then one of her patients dies and suddenly we’re heading off in a new direction altogether. There’s a painful familiarity to what ensues – and, yes, it is based on a true if somewhat over-dramatised story. But it’s hugely watchable thanks to a terrific performance from Chastain and an even better one from a particularly convincing

Redmayne. From Wednesday
