The Repair Shop: A Royal Visit
BBC1, 8pm
Thanks in no small measure to the engaging personality of presenter
Jay Blades, as well as the fascinating spectacle of skilled craftspeople going about their work, The Repair Shop is one of the best-loved shows on TV. But still, what a coup for the series as King Charles III pays a very special royal visit as part of the centenary celebrations of the BBC.
This delightful episode – filmed with the then Prince of Wales (right, with Blades) in autumn of last year – sees Blades and his team on a visit to Dumfries House, the stately home in Scotland that is run by the Prince’s Foundation.
It’s not only an opportunity to admire historic sights and artefacts, but also for The Repair Shop’s experts to take on the challenge of restoring items chosen by Charles and bring them back to full gleaming life. ★★★★★
