The Crown’s fake plotlines are defaming our country

-

I completely agree with the furious statement issued by Sir John Major’s office about future scenes from Netflix’s The Crown, as The Mail on Sunday reported last week.

This is national defamation. Other countries protect their reputation, and gratuitous insults are heavily penalised. This production goes way beyond that.

Britain and the monarchy should not stand for it.

All fictional films and TV series based loosely on facts should be labelled as such. The falsehoods in The Crown are disrespectful.

While Sir John Major is understandably upset by the latest series of The Crown, I don’t think it will stop people from watching. It is an excellent show starring brilliant actors. I can’t wait for its release next month.
