STALEMATE SEES MORTON MAINTAIN UNBEATEN RUN

- By Neil Robertson

MORTON extended their unbeaten run to four games with a hard-fought draw against 10-man Dundee at Dens Park.

The home side had the first chance of the match with less than a minute on the clock but Cammy Kerr’s 20-yard shot was easily held by Morton keeper Brian Schwake.

Dundee had a big scare in the 39th minute when keeper Ian Lawlor came racing out of his box to clear but the ball broke to Jai Quitongo, who couldn’t find a team-mate with a cross.

The Dark Blues came agonisingly close to scoring in the 71st minute when sub Zak Rudden chested the ball off the inside of Schwake’s post.

Dundee were then reduced to 10 men when Mulligan picked up two yellow cards in the space of just three minutes.

Both sides had chances late on to take all three points but Robbie Muirhead’s longrange shot was deflected just wide while Dundee’s Lee Ashcroft had a free header that he sent over the bar.

Morton boss Dougie Imrie said: ‘Both teams went at it to get the three points but it is still a valuable point for us.’
