Halloween is much like Christmas, with some people excited about the prospect of dressing up and Halloween parties, while others pull the curtains and turn off the lights to hide from the trick or treaters. To make things easier, an unspoken rule seems to have emerged over the last few years where those open to witches, ghouls and demons place candlelit pumpkins on their doorsteps. Whichever side of the fence you sit, beneath the obvious traditions of going door-to-door demanding treats, Halloween does offer something for everyone.

It’s the ideal opportunity to dress up and express your dark side with themed parties and events. Traditionally, it also marks the end of the harvest season and the official start of winter.

Believed to have its roots in Celtic paganism, Halloween is also a time to celebrate our ancestors.
