OUT AND ABOUT

If you suffer from itchy eyes, wear wraparound sunglasses to keep pollen at bay – and pay attention to the weather forecast. ‘It sounds harsh but you may have to avoid going out when you know the pollen count is high,’ says Dr Dan Bunstone, chief medical officer at the private GP service Push Doctor.

A HEALTHY HOME

‘If pollen can’t get to you, your hay fever won’t flare up,’ says Dr Bunstone. ‘Change into clean clothes after time outside. Try to keep your windows closed and dry your freshly washed clothes indoors to stop them picking up pollen.’

HAIRY HAZARDS

‘Remember that pollen can easily latch on to your hair, but a quick rinse will soon wash it off. And don’t forget that pets can also be a vector for pollen, so give them a good wash or brush too!’
