Loving secret to longevity
Helping others helps you live longer, say scientists in Germany. They analyzed data from more than 500 participants in the Berlin Aging Studies and found that grandparents who cared for their grandchildren some of the time lived up to five years longer than those who didn’t provide care. And older adults without grandchildren who cared for people in their social networks lived an average of three years longer than non-helpers. Past research suggests that caregivers net benefits like improved self-esteem and social connections that enhance health and extend longevity.
