Big hat protects brainpower
Grabbing that sun hat before heading out not only protects your skin, it keeps your thinking abilities sharp, say international researchers. In studies published in Scientific Reports, volunteers with prolonged heat exposure to lamps replicating sunlight performed poorly on math and hand-eye coordination tasks. Study author Lars Nybo, Ph.D., says shade slows dehydration and prevents the sun’s hot rays from reaching the outer layers of the brain, which can hinder brain cell communication to cause foggy thinking.
