Singing out loud shown to keep the brain young
This from Finnish researchers, who followed subjects over 60 for three years, and found that people who sang in a choir were better able to switch focus and adapt quickly to new situations. The scientists credit the combination of learning lyrics, melody and rhythm and listening to make sure you’re on key for the benefit. They suggest that sing-alongs around the firepit can do the same—especially if you’re learning new lyrics.
