ABOUT THE ARTIST
I have been creating artwork on a daily basis for 43 years. I received painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and art history training through BFA and MFA degrees, and additional lengthy studio workshops at the Banff Centre in Alberta, and Emma Lake in northern Saskatchewan. Over the years, I received a major Canada Council Grant as well as several provincial arts grants, and showed regularly in commercial and civic galleries across Canada. I taught studio art and art history for 26 years at Trinity College School, an exceptional private school in Southern Ontario. Over the years I developed the habit of continually making small pieces, both as teaching examples, and as a way of continuing my daily painting practice. It is now more than 15 years since
I stopped selling my work primarily through art galleries, and instead, have concentrated on online sales. This decision has not only been financially lucrative, it has led to greater peace of mind.
I love being in charge of my own sales. It is a great joy communicating with my buyers worldwide, and many customers make repeat purchases. Work is produced daily, and listed to my various online sites within hours of completion. The art is often sold before the day is done, and mailed the next day. I love working on paper and wood panels, which are easy to securely package and inexpensive to mail. Since I am prolific, I prefer to sell the work inexpensively so that a vast segment of the population previously disengaged by the often intimidating, cumbersome and expensive gallery system can easily access, purchase and enjoy my paintings. My plan is to continue listing a new original artwork every day until Father Time says otherwise!
