ventures with chance events. The subject matter of my work is diverse, and my style meanders from abstraction to realism. Beyond the subject matter, my paintings are linked by their background. The background structures evoke an organic element, unbridled, vibrating with matter. The play on contradictions between what is designed and what is unpredictable brings life itself to mind, which cannot be captured in a single project. It escapes the established order and takes on a life of its own, as plans are accompanied by chance and secrecy.
My Working Process
My working process has two stages. At the beginning, I prepare an underpainting, pour a mixture of turpentine and the desired pigment over the primed canvas.
This stage is short, lasts one or two hours and I have no full control over it. The effect of the action of turpentine is random—although I can control the color and distribution of structural accents, I cannot exclude spontaneous modulation resulting from the turpentine properties or from the differences between individual canvases. After the underpainting is dry, I start the second stage—overpainting. This last stage of painting may take over a month and is preceded by the preparation of the project, based on the underpainting composition.
