Gridiron Cake

CAKE ²/3 cup butter, softened
13/4 cups sugar
1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
2 large eggs, room temperature 21/2 cups all-purpose flour
21/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt
11/4 cups 2% milk
FROSTING 1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup butter, softened
33/4 cups confectioners’ sugar 1 Tbsp. 2% milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Green paste food coloring
DECORATION 2 goalposts (made from yellow bendable straws) Large gumdrops
1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a 17x12x1-in. half sheet foil cake pan. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla, then eggs, one at at time. Whisk flour, baking powder and salt; beat into creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Transfer to prepared pan.
2. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean,
25-30 minutes. Cool completely.
3. Beat cream cheese and butter.
Add sugar, milk and vanilla. Reserve
¹₄ cup of frosting for field markings. Tint the remainder; spread over cake. Pipe white yard lines and numbers. Add goalposts and gumdrops.
