Ryan Peene

Ryan Peene has joined Unity Bank as senior vice president/chief depository officer, bringing extensive financial services industry leadership experience to the community bank. Peene leads the developmen­t and execution of Unity’s retail banking operations and is responsibl­e for the growth and retention of municipal deposit relationsh­ips.

Most recently, Peene was senior vice president and director of market growth and developmen­t with Spencer Savings Bank. Previously, he was senior vice president of government banking and corporate developmen­t at SB One Bank. He also worked as a consultant with MBI Public Affairs, one of New Jersey’s largest public affairs firms.

In 2019, Peene received the 40 Under 40 award from NJBIZ magazine. He is a commission­er on the Hoboken Planning Board and served as vice chairman from 2017-2019. Peene is a member and treasurer of the Board of Directors of Greater Bergen Community Action and a board member of the Waterfront Project in Jersey City, which provides free legal services to those in need. He is a member of the NJBankers Government Relations Committee; an honorary member of the Hudson County Chiefs of Police Associatio­n; former member of the New Jersey Council on Local Mandates; and served as a trustee on the Board of Bergen Catholic High School from 2012-2015.

Peene graduated from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business with a master’s degree in nonprofit business administra­tion and from Rutgers University with an undergradu­ate degree in political science. In 2018, he graduated from the Wharton University of Pennsylvan­ia’s American Bankers Associatio­n Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
