2007: Wesley scores 31 points and rolls up 328 yards in the second half to pull away from a 7-7 halftime tie and end Muhlenberg’s unbeaten season with a 3831 win in the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs in Dover, Delaware. The Mules (11-1) get a touchdown pass from Eric Santagato on the opening drive but don’t score again until falling behind 28-7. 1962: Tamaqua (9-0-1) is named the Eastern Conference’s Southern Division football champions for the first time, edging Mahanoy Area (9-0-1) — the team that tied the Blue Raiders. Tamaqua, which held a .743-.709 margin based on strength-ofschedule, meets North Division champion Blakeley in the title game. Also, East Stroudsbur­g State College (12-1) wins the NAIA soccer national championsh­ip with a 4-0 win over Pratt Institute.
