少女籲對抗氣候變遷

●Long before Delenn Kershaw ever heard the term eco-anxiety-feeling overwhelmed by the existential challenge of climate change--he 19year-old Scarborough teen said she experienced it.

19歲的史卡波羅少女德林‧克蕭說，早在聽聞「生態焦慮」一詞之前，她就對氣候變遷造成的既存挑戰感到震驚。

●”I had no idea about it, but I felt it, I very much felt it,” Kershaw said. “I definitely felt it ... the fear of the future, what we might be losing, and feeling so small in such a global monster of an issue.”克蕭說：「我原本沒有概念，但我感覺到，感觸深刻；我肯定有感，擔心未來，我們可能失去的，且對全球議題的龐大感到渺小。」

●Inspired by teenage Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, Kershaw said she is now part of a global movement calling for action to combat climate change.受到瑞典氣候活躍少女桑柏格‧通貝里的啟發，克蕭說她已然成為全球呼籲對抗氣候變遷行動的一分子。

●Kershaw has launched a local chapter in Scarborough of Fridays for Future a youth-driven movement started after Thunberg skipped school and staged sit-ins on Fridays outside the Swedish Parliament.克蕭在史卡波羅當地分會推動「周五為未來而戰」，這是通貝里倡議周五罷課，到瑞典國會外靜坐抗議的運動。

●”When the youth come out to these events I think it gives that faceto-face hope that they’re not alone,” Kershaw said.克蕭說：「當青年為此事件挺身而出，我認為這是面對面的期望，他們並非孤軍奮戰。」

●”When they rally [at] climate strikes ... they’re able to have that dialogue and figure out where they fit in this big issue, where they can have the most impact.”「當他們為氣候罷課，他們得以對話並釐清在此大議題中的定位，足以造成影響。」

●Kershaw was among hundreds of students who skipped school and took to the streets in Toronto on Friday to demand action on climate change.克蕭是周五蹺課走上多倫多街頭，呼籲對氣候變遷採取行動的數百名學生之一。

●That protest followed September’s climate strike when tens of thousands of young people stayed away from classes to protest.這場抗議活動是9月數十萬名年輕人響應氣候罷課的後續活動。

●”In September, 7.5 million people around the world took to the streets. Tomorrow we’re doing it again. Everyone’s needed. Everyone’s welcome,” Thunberg posted on social media as she rallied young people to join the latest protest.
