GETTING THERE

Scarborough is easily accessible by train from York, and unless you’re coming from the north-east, via York is the best way to get there by car too – just follow the A64.

WHERE TO STAY

There are loads of accommodation options in the Scarborough and Dalby area, from the spa-equipped Crown Hotel in Scarborough to camping in Dalby Forest if you’re feeling wild. Parts of the route itself feel remote, but you’re never far from food. Dalby Forest has a visitor centre and there’s a cafe at Low Dalby. The short Troutsdale to Forge valley stretch is the only potential hunger zone, but you’re soon back in civilisation.

WHAT TO DO

Scarborough and Filey offer the usual English seaside town attractions, as well as museums and galleries, surfing and coastal walks. Dalby has great mountain biking trails and in general the Moors are rich in outdoor activity potential. It’s also a great area if you’re into your history and archaeology.
