Skyrim is packed with lore, but do you ac­tu­ally read it? With so much ad­ven­tur­ing to do, who has the time to sit around and leaf through his­tory books? Far bet­ter to pick one up, open it in the hope of a skill boost, then cast it aside with­out read­ing a word and

get back to the im­por­tant stuff: kit­ing sol­diers into gi­ants’ ag­gro range, dragon-shout­ing crock­ery off ta­bles, stuff like that. Real life, of course, is dread­fully bor­ing, so hats off to Ti­tan Books for tak­ing all that in-world lore out of Skyrim and putting into a three-vol­ume set of books packed with of­fi­cial art­work. The only ques­tion­able thing about it is the tim­ing: why put this out now? Per­haps

Bethesda’s E3 press con­fer­ence will yield the an­swer.
