Unexpected news came from Japan as Citizen Watch announced their acquisition of the Frederique Constant group. The acquisition was part of the “Citizen Global Plan 2018,” in which the Japanese brand sought to expand their presence and portfolio. Aletta and Peter Stas, founders of Frederique Constant Holding S.A. added: “we have become increasingly impressed by the innovative technologies of the Citizen Group. we see the opportunity of Swiss-Japanese partnership to develop and market Accessible luxury watches for the 21st century and beyond.” Combining Swiss watchmaking traditions and Japanese perfection in craftsmanship sure does seem like a winning formula.
