“Wow” is the appropriate response upon encountering this unexpected novelty from Rado. Coming from a brand that prides itself primarily for reinventing materials instead of edgy designs, the HyperChrome 1616 is a true out-of-thebox release that would pique the interest of even the most ardent naysayers. Then again, the material used is pretty unique, too. The masculine black ceramic case is a veritable crowd pleaser, whereas its vintage-feel hardened titanium counterpart is surprisingly durable and light, weighing only 106 grams. It is also scratchproof, a quality hard to find in regular titanium cases. Aside from that, the dial is a bit quaint but far from boring, given the day and date display vertically positioned at 6 o’clock.
