THAT ’70s sHOw
The rise of Gucci of late loudly extends to its watchmaking department, where a variety of novelties—created with a nod to creative director Alessandro Michele— have arrived to sex up the brand’s more conservative swiss-style selections. The GG2570 is one such watch, with a moniker that collates Michele’s lucky number, “25,” and the brand’s hallmark decade, the 1970s. The cushion-shaped case with seamless lugs and round bezel is irreverently fresh, propped by a subtle “G” on the dial rim and a date display at 6 o’clock. There are plenty of models shown for men, although the one with a striped NATO nylon strap is particularly covetable. All of these pieces are powered by quartz movements (and are hence relatively more affordable).
