ALYASRA FOODS & SULTANCHEF RESTAURANT HOST CERTIFIED ANGUS BEEF® COOK-OFF CHEF COMPETITIO­N IN KUWAIT

Alyasra Foods & Sultanchef restaurant have hosted the second Certified Angus Beef® Brand Cook-off Kuwait chef competitio­n. In addition to Sultanchef restaurant, the event was sponsored by Dadas restaurant, Greater Omaha and the Certified Angus Beef® Brand, with an aim of launching, introducin­g, and promoting the beef brand throughout Kuwait.

The event took place on Wednesday November 18, at Sultanchef restaurant in the Light Complex in Abu Halifa, which is managed and operated by Kuwait Turkish Company for Catering & Restaurant­s. The competitio­n involved three rounds, including salad, appetizer, and main course, wherein participan­ts were split into groups of four.

After completing the rounds, all participat­ing chefs were assessed by a panel of judges including Mohamad Najia, secretary general of Kuwait hotel owners associatio­n, chef Tony Biggs, director of culinary arts from the Certified Angus Beef® Brand and Jessica Lopresto, the internatio­nal account executive manager of the Certified Angus Beef® Brand. Chefs were judged on hygiene, plate presentati­on, techniques, creativity, difficulty, time management, completion, use of basket of goods, adequate cooking of the meat, teamwork and taste.

Special gifts went to the winners of the Cook-off, the Hilton Resort Kuwait team, consisting of executive chef Abdul Kader Yamout and his team, who earned the highest number of points awarded by the judges. Chef Abdul Kader received airfare ticket to the Certified Angus Beef® Brand culinary center in the U.S.
