The show involved several competitio­ns, including a barista, bed making and table setting. Thuraya Husseini, chairperso­n & CEO of Lawrence & Husseini Consult and HORECA Jordan organizer, said, “We have welcomed groups from Korea, Turkey and Cyprus, in addition to visitors from neighborin­g countries, which has boosted the overall tourism in Jordan.” Some exhibitors had even asked to book their same place for next year.

According to Issa Gammoh, secretary general of Jordan Ministry of Tourism and Antiquitie­s, HORECA Jordan has become part of conference tourism strategy launched and supported by the Ministry. “Over 12 percent of the visitors of the country derive particular­ly from this category of tourism, which also represents over 15 percent of tourism income,” he said.

HORECA Jordan represents a main gateway to new prospects looking to invest in the country and puts them in direct contact with the suppliers, according to Eliane Janineh, general manager of the Jordan Restaurant Associatio­n. “We were able to close a deal to import our vegetarian product to the USA and met with several potential clients,”

Following the first successful step of HORECA Jordan in 2014, the 2nd edition of the event was held from the 10th-12th of November 2015 at Zara Expo (Grand Hyatt Hotel) in Amman. Next year’s show is scheduled for
