BUSINESS MUSCAT DAILY 09 MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2020 CBO's foreign assets rise 6.1% to RO6.3bn Earlier this year, the ministry opened 206km part of the 246kmlong Sharqiyah Expressway project Muscat – The total foreign assets of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) rose 6.1 per cent in the end of July compared to the same period a year ago. The CBO's total foreign assets reached to RO6.28bn as of July 2020 compared to the same month of 2019 when it stood at RO5.92bn. The effective exchange rate index of Omani rial fell by 1.4 per cent to 104.1 points as of the end of July 2020 compared to 105.6 points in the same period of 2019. In terms of money supply, the sultanate registered an increase in narrow money supply by 7.8 per cent to RO5.57bn at the end of July 2020. Meanwhile, the broad money supply rose 10 per cent to RO19.06bn during the period as against RO17.33bn a year ago, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Informatio­n (NCSI). The total currency issued at the end of July 2020 stood at RO1.96bn compared to RO1.65bn issued in the same period of 2019, marking a rise of 18.9 per cent, according to NCSI data.
