START SMALL WITH GO TRI

-

If you’re looking for an entry route into triathlon that’s supportive, accessible and laced with community spirit, GO TRI is not a bad place to start. British Triathlon is behind the initiative, with the organisation working toward having a regular GO TRI event in every town and city across the United Kingdom. GO TRI events can be in the form of a triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon or aquabike, but what they all have in common is that they’re local, affordable and take place over a short distance (usually no more than 200m swim, 12.5km bike, 2.5km run). The swimming leg at many GO TRI events often happens in a pool and you can use any type of bike for the cycle leg. While not always part of the GO TRI initiative, many event organisers include supersprint triathlons on their programme, which take place over a similar distance and give you even more opportunities to try your hand at multisport. Perfect for: Anyone that wants to give triathlon a go in a safe and supportive environment. Find out more: Visit gotri.org for more information. British Triathlon’s Jenny Vincent on GO TRI events: “For me, the aim of the GO TRI programme is to make people have the confidence to believe that they can. It’s about making people feel like there’s ‘people like me’ that do this. Everyone has their perception of a triathlete. But when you go to any triathlon, you’ll see people of all shapes, sizes, abilities and backgrounds.”
