McLaren 570S Spider
Take one McLaren 570S, remove the roof and replace it with a two-piece retractable hardtop. The result is a modest 46kg heavier than the coupe; McLaren says no extra strengthening of the body was needed, as the super-strong carbon tub was already sturdy enough.
There are two rear buttresses that slope down from the seats and a slight extension of the rear spoiler to accommodate the change in proile. McLaren’s dihedral doors have survived the transition to Spider.
The twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 remains unchanged so there’s 562bhp to play with, and the 062mph launch time of 3.2 seconds is exactly the same as the hardtop’s. Top speed with the roof up is the same as the coupe, too, at 204mph, but drops to 196mph top down. Yours for £164,750. NEED TO KNOW How does it it in the range?
