NEW CAR DEBRIEF

ASTON MARTIN DB11 AMR

-

1 What’s AMR, again?

It stands for Aston Martin Racing, and while Gaydon is using the AMR abbreviation chie‹ly for its inhouse motorsport division, it’s also deploying the three letters on special versions of some of its road cars. In the case of the new DB11 AMR, it involves carbon‹ibre, new alloys and striking lime green trim.

2 So it’s just cosmetic?

Thankfully there’s more to it than that, as the AMR road cars are also about performance. The DB11 AMR’s 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 develops 630bhp – 30bhp more than the regular model’s – for 0¢62mph in 3.7sec, 0.2sec quicker. A 208mph top end makes the AMR DB11 the fastest car in Aston’s range.

3 What else is di†erent?

Darkened lighting clusters, a black roof and subtle splitters all feature outside. Liberal use of leather and alcantara inside is complemented by more lime green, and there’s a new steering wheel. You can up-spec to a limited-edition version for bonus carbon, satin chrome and more leather.

4 How much?

AMR DB11s can be yours from £174,995 – around £17k more than the basic asking price for Aston’s standard V12 GT car. The more exclusive version is limited to just 100 units and costs a smidge under £202k. In both cases, get your order in now for a summer 2018 delivery.
