How to choose your gear

CAMERAS

nowadays we have a great range of mirrorless cameras, rangefinders and some point-and-shoots which seem the most popular with street photographers. even using a DsLR paired with a small lens (i.e. a 35mm or 50mm), you can still remain inconspicuous in many situations.

LENSES

Personally, I find prime lenses to be the best for shooting street, as they are fast, small and wide. Anything from 24mm to 50mm works great. the advantages to primes vs zooms is they are compact and also do not intimidate people.

ACCESSORIES

the branded straps that come with cameras can draw attention. Buy a comfortable strap that can be wrapped around your wrist while you walk, so you can hold your camera in hand and not always around your neck.
