AVOCADOS

are in season now and at the peak of deliciousn­ess. Look out for the Hass variety, with its dark green skin, and nuttyflavo­ured flesh.

BEETROOT

in various colours, including the pretty candy-striped and golden varieties, are available now. Roast them and serve with creamy feta, or enjoy raw in salads.

BROAD BEANS

are delicious steamed and smashed with olive oil and served with Parmesan. Or boil them and serve as a side to fish or meat with fresh lemon juice and mint.

CABBAGE,

both green and red, makes for a hearty side roasted with cheese sauce, or stir-fried with onion and bacon.

CARROTS

are available in myriad colours. Roast the rainbow varieties, or enjoy raw.

JERUSALEM ARTICHOKES

are best simply roasted and drizzled with olive oil.
