Cook in stock or coconut milk instead of water.

Add whole cardamom pods to the pot and cook with the rice. The cooking will soften the pods and, once cooked, you’ll be able to pop them open to release the seeds.

Add a handful of frozen peas – or other chopped frozen veg.

Use leftover rice to make nasi goreng, fried rice or biryani.
