Woolworths TASTE

What’s your favourite fallback chicken dish?

“I make Nigella’s Italian roast chicken with peppers and olives at least once a month – it’s easy and delicious; I sneak in some cauliflower because the flavours really gel, and then I don’t have to bother with a side.” – Jeanne Calitz

“I pop a whole chicken into my air fryer (you must use Woolies’ Cajun seasoning). It’s the easiest, most delicious crispy chicken. An absolute winner in our home.” – Yvette Samaai

“I started making chicken pies under lockdown, and it’s become a bit of a habit. I roast chicken thighs, then tear them into a simple leek, garlic, mushroom and cream sauce. Top with readymade pastry and voilà: the most comforting chicken dish ever!” – Katharine Pope

“I love making a whole poached chicken for soups or curries and the versatility of being able to use up what’s in the fridge. I can change up the flavours and textures but with no fuss and all in one pot!” – Hannah Lewry

“Crumbed chicken with Woolies’ frozen mashed potatoes and Crunchita lettuce salad

with anchovies.” – Abigail Donnelly

“Chicken alfredo. It’s just a few simple ingredients

that are perfect together. I like to top it with crispy bacon bits and parsley. I make it almost every week.”

– Siphokazi Tsala

“Roast chicken for sure.

Abi once told me to roast it on top of carrots and onions, so I do that every time. I roast it breast-side down for 40 minutes, then breastside up for another 40 minutes before resting it breast-side down for 10 minutes – that way all the juices go into the breast meat (a Maggie Beer trick).”

– Kelly Cloete

“Chicken mince is a staple in my home. I usually make a spicy chicken Bolognese-type sauce that we use for pasta, with mash and occasionally yummy chicken nachos.” – Annzra Naidoo
