WHAT IS MCLAREN APPLIED?
Founded in 1991 and sold to London-based Greybull Capital in 2021, Mclaren Applied is a technology developer that focuses on electrification, telemetry, control tech and analytics.
An early pioneer of simulator usage in Formula 1 car design, the firm is committed to developing powertrains, vehicle development processes and motorsport solutions that improve efficiency and cut costs.
In 2018, Mclaren Applied collaborated on the CTU400, a highly compact and lightweight EV motor, and has just revealed a new 800V silicon carbide inverter (above) that weighs only 5.5kg and can power EV motors with up to 469bhp, but it is not yet clear if this will be deployed in Kincsem’s hypercar.
