The biggest launches this year will be in one-time restaurant hinterland Victoria.
NOVA is a new development site where big-name chefs are queuing up to open. Jason Atherton will be making his first foray into Italian cuisine with a yet-to-benamed restaurant featuring a wood-fired pizza oven at its centre and an open kitchen so diners can watch pasta be prepared.
Also in NOVA will be a Bone Daddies ramen joint, Sourced Market deli and a behemothic 10,000sq ft site from the D&D restaurant group, which is planned for launch in autumn, according to sources.
Top South American chef and cookery writer Martha Ortiz is taking her brand of modern Mexican to Park Lane’s Intercontinental Hotel. She intends to ‘deliver the beauty, vibrancy and spirit of Mexico in a total experience of the senses’.
Stellar French cook Jean- Georges Vongerichten is launching a restaurant at The Connaught hotel in spring. It will be a relaxed neighbourhood offering serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner with a farm-to-table cooking style.
