Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 63-year-old woman after the car she was travelling in caught fire about midday on Friday. Police and medical staff from the Mataranka Clinic responded to a call-out that the woman had serious burns after the cargo space of a Holden Commodore ute caught fire. Police understand the woman was travelling in the ute’s tray at the time. The woman was flown to the Royal Darwin Hospital by CareFlight but died yesterday afternoon. email@example.com A TEENAGE girl has been medevaced to Royal Darwin Hospital from the remote town of Alyangula after being attacked with an axe. Police said the 16-year-old was found at an outstation on Friday with the axe embedded in her lower back. They said they were still investigating the circumstances that led to the incident. A man, 18, who is believed to be known to the girl, has been arrested. Police said he had been charged with recklessly endangering serious harm and had been granted bail to attend court at a later date.
