22 The Morning Call | Sunday, January 3, 2021 Obituaries Gloria Theresa Schiavone Placeanad.mcall.com/obituaries Obits@mcall.com Ella Cora Berger Gloria Theresa Schiavone, a lifelong resident of Allentown died at Holy Family Senior Living in Bethlehem, PA on December 31, 2020 at age 95. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r, a gifted poet and painter, gardener extraordin­aire, and enthusiast­ic conversati­onalist. Gloria will be remembered as a gregarious and fun-loving woman who loved the outdoors, especially ocean beaches and swimming. She tremendous­ly enjoyed family gatherings, especially summer holidays at the Poconos cabin. Gloria kept in good health by participat­ing in aerobics through her 70s. Gloria was born in Allentown on December 13, 1925; daughter of the late George and Anna (Lipovsky) Wasco. She married Arnold M. Schiavone in 1946 and the two were married for 66 years, until his death in 2013. She enjoyed her career at Hess Brothers Department Store which spanned several decades. Gloria is survived by her three children, James Schiavone and wife, Elaine, Judith Grosser and husband, Bruce, and Virginia Newton and husband, James Birdsall; three grandchild­ren, Kristen Lopez and husband, Sam, Alisa Weimer and husband, Herman, and Corinne Mammana and husband Lou; as well as three great-grandchild­ren, Evan and Natalie Weimer and Zoey Lopez. She was predecease­d by her parents, sister, Dolores Vlk, son-in-law, Dr. David Newton, and her greatgrand­child, Ethan Lopez. Ella Cora Berger, 89, Schuylkill County, died December 28, 2020,at 11:00 A.M. in Geisinger St.Luke's Hospital, Orwigsburg, PA. She was a resident of Orwigsburg Manor, Schuylkill County since June 2019. Prior to that she lived in Greenwich Township. She was the wife of late husband Ethan M. Berger. Rothrock Gouldie M. (Schultz) Rothrock, 86 of Schnecksvi­lle, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 2, 2021. She was the wife of Theodore C. Rothrock Sr. to whom she was married 65 years. Born in Bethlehem, August 12, 1934, Gouldie was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Pauline Schultz. Gouldie was employed as a waitress at many local restaurant­s in the Lehigh Valley and also was a bus driver for Parkland School District before retiring. Gouldie was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, Allentown. She also volunteere­d in the kitchen at the Community Fire Co. #1, Schnecksvi­lle for many years. Survivors: In addition to her husband, Ted; children, Jeffrey A. Rothrock and his wife, Michelle of Neffs, Douglas Rothrock and his wife, Nancy of Slatington, Kelly A. Stubits and her husband, Matthew of Slatington; grandchild­ren, Tonya Stubits, Tamara Stubits, Brandon Rothrock, Jordan Rothrock, Corey Rothrock, Christophe­r Rothrock, Dustin Rothrock, Derek Rothrock ; great grandchild­ren, Lila, Logan, Norah; predecease­d by children, Theodore C. Rothrock Jr. and Jane L. Wolfe and siblings, Emma Schuler, Dorothy Burnett, Alverta Mayers, Stanley Schultz, Allen Schultz, and Howard Schultz. Ella had served as Treasurer of the Sunday School, Chair of the Cookie Sale Committee, member of the Helping Hands, and member of the choir. She is survived by a son, Dennis E., husband of Shirley (Arndt) Berger, Greenwich Township; and a daughter, Diane L. (Berger), wife of Larry Miller, Albany Township. Other survivors include four grandchild­ren: Jennifer K. (Berger), wife of Charles Strauss; Amanda M. (Berger), ex-wife of Paul Herman; Janelle B. (Miller), wife of Daniel Loeb; and Ryan W., husband of Jaimie (Garner) Miller; and six great-grandchild­ren: Zebadiah C., husband of Jacqulyn (Marton) Strauss; Ariana L. (Strauss), wife of Andrew McGuire; Lucas C. Herman; Raegan C. Loeb; Connor J. Loeb; and Gabrielle L. Loeb. Grandson Jason A. Berger was deceased. A graveside service for immediate family will be held Saturday, January 16, 10:00 am at New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Krumsville.
