Twelfth Night, or What You Will is a romantic comedy play by William Shakespeare. It is believed to have been written around 1601–1602 as Twelfth Night's entertainment for the close of the Christmas season. It was first published in the First Folio of 1623. The play centres on the twins Viola and Sebastian, who are separated in a shipwreck, and features romance, disguise, and mistaken identity. It ranks as one of the greatest comedy plays ever written and continues to be widely performed and adapted.
