In a real boost this week, Prestwick Howie Bowling Club was presented with the new BowlsMark Bronze award by Bowls Scotland at a ceremony on 28th August. This award recognises and rewards bowling clubs for good practice, and achieving BowlsMark recognises the club as being a safe, structured and welcoming place for bowlers and their guests to learn and play the sport. President Brian Rowan is received the award from Lawra Cox, Regional Developmen­t Officer, Bowls Scotland. • Troon St Meddans have taken a step towards promotion to Division Two following the first of the Ayrshire Scratch Leagues play- offs. In the Div 2- 3 play- off, St Meddans were 5.5- 0.5 first leg winners away to Div Three runners- up Ayr Belleisle. St Meddans now require only a single point from the return leg to take Belleisle’s place in Div Two next season.
